Cardiology – Perioperative Fellowship

Welcome to the Perioperative Vascular Medicine Training Program at McMaster University. Over 200 million adults undergo non-cardiac surgery annually, and over 10 million of these patients will suffer a major vascular complication in the first 30 days after surgery. Evidence-based practice in the field of perioperative medicine is a developing discipline with advancing knowledge frequently being generated through large international studies led out of McMaster University.

Welcome

McMaster University provides excellent clinical exposure to broad areas of perioperative vascular medicine including:

  • preoperative risk assessment
  • risk modification
  • perioperative monitoring
  • management of perioperative arrhythmias
  • myocardial infarction
  • congestive heart failure
  • venous thrombotic events

The Training program also offers instruction from global leaders in perioperative medicine, cardiology, thrombosis and GIM.

Certification Outcome

The successful completion of the fellowship will grant a Fellowship McMaster Certification.
