Welcome
The Cutaneous Laser Surgery fellowship is a one-year program designed for dermatologists with strong interest in non-invasive laser surgery and aesthetic medicine. The fellowship provides a comprehensive and immersive learning experience, specifically tailored to equip dermatologists with the expertise in lasers used in dermatology and aesthetic medicine. Fellows will gain valuable hands-on experience with a diverse range of laser platforms and procedures, fostering the development of competence and confidence necessary for excelling in both general and cosmetic dermatology practice. The fellowship is offered by the Division of Dermatology and will take place in community settings within or nearby Hamilton.
Curriculum
Fellows will be exposed to and learn how to perform wide variety of laser procedures across the discipline of cosmetic dermatology, including the use of fractional ablative Erbium-YAG and CO2 laser for skin resurfacing, fractional non-ablative lasers for skin tightening and rejuvenation, ND-YAG and IPL for vascular lesions, Q-switched for pigmentation and tattoos, different wavelengths lasers for hair removal, in addition to exposure to various radiofrequency, and energy based devices for skin rejuvenation/tightening, muscle toning and body contouring. Additionally, fellows have the option to receive training in fillers, neuromodulators, and bio-stimulatory agents. The fellowship also provides opportunities for fellows to conduct clinical
research and present their findings at national and international aesthetic and laser conferences, further enriching their learning experience. Fellows will have the conduct clinical research and engage in presenting and participating in national and international aesthetic and laser conferences.
Certification Outcome
The successful completion of the fellowship will grant a Fellowship Certification from McMaster University.
