David Braley and Nancy Gordon Chair in Thromboembolic Disease

Dr. James Douketis has been awarded the David Braley and Nancy Gordon Chair in Thromboembolic Disease. This endowed Chair, previously held by Dr. Jeff Ginsberg, reflects Dr. Douketis’ 27-year career as one of the leading experts in Thromboembolism, with a focus on peri-operative anticoagulant use. Over his career, Dr. Douketis has published many of the papers that today are used to guide peri-operative care of patients who are receiving anticoagulants – a clinical area that prior to Dr. Douketis’ work was largely guided by anecdotal evidence and “expert opinion”.
