Welcome to the Division of Nephrology in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University. Our faculty comprises 19 full-time and part-time nephrologists and two PhD scientists. Our members, based at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, teach and care for patients with kidney disease and kidney transplant recipients. In addition to the Hamilton academic hospital sites, we also provide care close to home in the neighbouring communities of Six Nations of the Grand River, Brantford, Niagara and Burlington.
The Hamilton Centre for Kidney Research brings our clinical and biomedical researchers together, where the focus is to improve the lives of patients with chronic kidney disease through leading-edge research. In addition to research, many of our division members are renowned leaders in education, quality improvement, patient safety and provincial kidney health and transplant administration.
