General Internal Medicine
Division of the Department of Medicine at McMaster
Welcome to the Division of General Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University. Our members teach and care for patients in three inpatient clinical teaching units in Hamilton, two distributed campuses, an ambulatory clinical teaching unit and various outpatient clinics. Divisional members have expertise in medical education, administration, continuing education and quality and safety. The division is privileged to have been home to visionaries and leaders in medical education reform and evidence-based medicine (EBM), such as William Walsh, David Sackett and Brian Haynes. Gordon Guyatt, Distinguished University Professor, who first coined the term EBM, remains a global leader in EBM and an active member of the division.
