DERMATOLOGY
Division of the Department of Medicine at McMaster
Welcome to the Division of Dermatology at McMaster University. Our division comprises many full- and part-time faculty members with a mission to provide excellence in patient care, education and research.
The outpatient dermatology service is based at McMaster University Medical Centre. Our physicians provide outpatient evaluation and treatment for common and advanced dermatology diseases. Specialty areas include immuno-bullous diseases, cutaneous lymphoma, inflammatory skin diseases (psoriasis and atopic dermatitis), contact dermatitis and patch testing. The high-risk skin cancer program (HRSCP) provides care for patients with renal transplants. This skin screening and management program complements comprehensive medical care for complicated renal transplant patients who are at the highest risk of skin malignancies. Our division also collaborates with other divisions and services to manage skin manifestations of rheumatic and connective tissue diseases, sarcoidosis, IBD and other systemic diseases, as well as onco-dermatology (graft versus host disease and cutaneous adverse effects of cancer treatments).
The division offers various educational opportunities including a fellowship in advanced clinical dermatology, elective rotations for medical students and residents from McMaster University, and other national and international programs. Our faculty is actively engaged in clinical research in melanoma, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, acne, and cutaneous lymphoma. The divisional faculty is also involved in providing didactic teaching sessions, speaking and presenting at national and international meetings, supervising MSc students, and writing clinical guidelines.
